Johanna Stamps brings several years experience in non-profit and event planning to her role at McEvoy & Associates, a New York-based fundraising strategy and event planning firm for the political and non-profit sectors.
Non-Profit Experience
Johanna began her career in government relations for the American Subcontractors Association (ASA) in Washington, DC. During her tenure, she helped garner support for legislation by arranging meetings for ASA members with their state Congressional representatives and legislative assistants to discuss specific issues. Johanna also coordinated several PAC events and successfully lobbied for anti-bid shopping legislation and OSHA policies.
Event Planning Experience
To sharpen her event planning skills, Johanna joined the community affairs and government relations team at Scholastic, Inc.—a worldwide publisher of children’s books. As part of Scholastic team for children’s literacy initiatives, Johanna helped conduct events in New York City and throughout the country, including:
- The Read and Rise© pilot
“train the trainer” program for the Austin Independent
School District
- The national launch of the Lee Y Seras©
Hispanic literacy initiative
- The national press tour of the Kids in Distress initiative, which helped secure the donation of over 100,00 books
to Native American communities
After leaving Scholastic in 2005, Johanna worked on several high profile non-profit events as a freelance event planner.

STRIVE and the Foundation of Westchester Clubmen, as well as political
fundraising events for Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer and

Johanna has a bachelors degree from American University, where she majored
in public communications and business administration.
